How sad about the people who died. It was from flooding, I assume?

Where was this, Neou? If the flooding is that bad, I'm glad they cancelled your school.

The weather has been pretty bad in the north of England/Scotland, especially around Carlisle (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4160387.stm).

Flooding and mud slides. I'm west coast. Judging by the rain today, school might be cancelled for a while. Our school gym has been destroyed once so far, but unfortunately they fixed it. *grumbles*

The local paper had pictures of a three story-tall rock that fell on a road in California. Yikes! It was as tall as the telephone poles near it! And covered the road, side to side. That has to be the biggest rock I ever saw!

I lived in California most of my life, and went through the El Ninos of '84 and '98. I can tell you now, it's not over. Not till sumer. In '98it kept raining clear into June. I had never seen California so green so late into the summer!

For those who don't know, in California the rain typically stops in May, the state turns a pretty golden brown (except the trees) until November or December, when the rain returns and it goes green again. California has four seasons. The Hot Dry Brown season, the Cool Dry Brown season, the Cold Wet Green season, and the Warm Damp Green season. (Summer thunderstorms? What are those?)

The upside to all of this, when this weather pattern happens, the desert has the most amazing floral display in late spring.

We didn't have school this afternoon, either, and frankly I'm rather PO'd. Yesterday Chef said it would be a very important lecture, we are so not going to be able to fit everything from today AND tomorrow in, and we're already behind because of the snow day last week. I am annoyed. Doubly so because even though I never went faster than 25 mph I still skidded through a red on my way to school, only to find out I had to turn around and go home.

That's so sad! Four deaths...

We don't typically have bad weather days here. Last time that happened was two years ago when the roads iced over...and Texans certainly don't have things to melt it quickly.

WE didn't have school because the dude that makes that dision can't drive in the snow...
