Now there's an idea that makes some sense! She did it with the Talents, why not with the CS's!! Great idea Selket!! :applause: :applause: :applause: Just wish I had thought of it!! :)

I think the first years of the Guild would make a great short story if not a novel. It must've been scary when they first noticed that people were starting to get sick.

I LOVE that idea!!! I know I always thought it would be nice to have some more background on the guild, etc.
Awesome idea!! :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:
I just hope she does it!

Another Crystal Singers book would be nice, but I'm not sure about Milekey. From what I remember of the descriptions of that time, it was all reasonably straightforward. As Granath said, there's a short story (or even a couple) in there, but perhaps not enough plot for a novel.

I don't know Just Bob. Milekey and the rest of the team most likely had no idea what was happening to them. They get sick, some die and others can suddenly see or hear things differently. How long do the effects last? Will they ever be normal again etc. I thing there's a short novel in there. Maybe not 800 pages, but definately a decent length novel.

More CS books would be absolutely wonderful but I seem to remember that Anne has stated there will be no more... :( Now, someone can always change his mind, but with Anne approaching 80 years I somehow don't think we'll see another Crystal Series book by her hand, even though I would love one!

Would love more CS but personally, I wanted to see the same time from another perspective... Rimbols! I wanted to know more about his life and his career... It's such a shame we loose track of him :(

I'm with Hans on this one..... much as I'd also love another book, when I met Anne last year, she said she just doesn't have the energy to write more books :sorry:

Also... what about when Milekey (and maybe someone else) notices he... umm... isn't getting old? What about when everyone else notices? How about the compulsions to return to the planet?
Yeah, story there.

But didn't the books imply that Milekey himself ignored the whole thing, and didn't realize there was a problem until some time later? Any book told from his point-of-view would be somewhat anticlimactic, and the story from anyone else's POV would end in painful death. Admittedly, that hasn't stopped some stories from being published, and even some very good ones...

i was hoping that anne would start with the discovery of ballybran. she could describe the different transitions the people went through. the reactions to the deathes of those who stayed away too long. i think there is at least one book there.

Actually, you have an idea there. Instead of having a single novel, Anne could write a set of short stories about the various members of the exploratory team, and how Ballybran affects their bodies, and their lives...

i love the idea would love to know more about the early days of settlement and also how the fsp decided to make Ballybran a code four planet instead of just closing it off completely

Hmmm, maybe Todd could... or Gigi?

I like the idea of somebosy maybe asking Todd if he would take it on. Anne did so many books for the DoP series, and a bunch of them are the same thing, just from a different POV. Maybe he could expand on the series from Rimbol's POV, or do one that would be a bit more graphic from the medics POV?
I think one from Lanzecki's POV would be good, too. Since he's Guild Master and can't get out to cut crystal as often and has to have Tre..(?) *oh, what is his name?* to pull him out of crystal thrall. Maybe a book about that part of the Guild. And I would like to see a piece about what happens when a Singer stays out in the Ranges for too long during a Mach storm. A little bit about that POV would be good material if you can write about the darker parts of things. I know Anne could do it because she did it with Fax in DoP, why not do something darker like the death of a Singer that stays in the Ranges for too long during a storm?

Why get Todd involved with Crystal Singers too?????
Thats my favourite series!
No offense to Todd, but I didn't really think that much of Dragons Blood, and would rather not have my favourite series ruined!

Not to mention the fact, Bane, that Todd doesn't like to touch Anne's characters, which is why he wrote Dragon's Kin and Dragonsblood in a seperate century to anything that Anne has written, they are her characters and his are his own.
On a side note, Gigi is also nominated to write in Anne's worlds, so perhaps we might get lucky enough to see something new from her...

Oh I hope so! Like Bane said, it would be nice to have something from the Guildmaster's perspective. Maybe a future one, AFTER Jewel Junk worked it's magic...?

but if he wrote about the beginning of ballybran, he would not be writing about any of anne's characters.

i think its a good idea to have a book about the first crystal singers, it would be nice to know what was involved in milekeys decisions to go down to that particular planet and what he thought he had found at first. saying that i would also like to know whats happening to killa now that she has her memory back. i mean its all good to know that it happened but i want to know what happens in her relationship with lars, how does it affect her in day to day life especially as she cant go out and cut any more. i have so many questions about what happens, does she stay with lars? does lars end up getting sonic shorted in a mach storm? does he even go out to cut at all any more? and if he does is he like lanzecki was? how will she cope if she cant go out and cut? what happens to a singer who cant cut any more? does she still get to leave the planet or does she get stuck on the planet with nowhere to go?
ARRGGHH!! the suspense is killing me!

When I was at Dragon*Con this year, I asked Todd AND Anne this very question...Would there ever be a new Crystal Singer book?
Not quoting, but Anne said that unless a new story 'called' to her, no.
Not quoting, Todd replied that he hadn't even thought about stories in the CS series, but that if he ever had an idea for a new CS story, he would definitely run it by Anne, but he would only write one with her permission.
So basicly, our answer is no, for now.

regarding todd imo i think todd does a great job with the stories he has written.i personally found his books highly enjoyable.but to some people the world of pern belongs solely to ann alone and no one no matter who must enter her world because it will not be the same as the original writers veiw but each to his / her own pov

Already been done, in the short story "Killashandra - Coda and Finale" in the book Continuum 4 edited by Roger Ellwood.
Killashandra gets caught in a storm and dies. It's all very torrid, backstabbing, tainted love, the whole shebang. The sad thing is, Lanzecki wanted her to die. The bastard.
So. If Anne can change the events that happened in Continuum 2, 3 and 4 to create the Crystal Singer series, then someone can slightly tweak the Milekey story!

why not write an book about milekey and his first group. the group could include lanzexki as a young man. it couild follow milekey and end up with lnazexki becoming guildmaster.
