Ah, the sorts of things that are born out of HP movies and boredom..

The site's just finished construction, and faculty positions are open. Of course, what's a school without students? Students of course, are welcome! There's not much else to say over it right now, but that's more to my rush for Thanksgiving rather than lack of information of the site. Round robin is where you post as your character, wait for a reply from another person, then reply to that. Basically what you do everyday here on the NKTL. :D It's a forum-based site, but the boards are hidden from the sidebar. You'll have to go to the page, then click the link to the board to post (EX: Click Hogwarts, Subjects, Transfiguration, Link to Roleplay). It may look a little confusing at first, but it gets easier.

As for the faculty position.. :blush: I forgot to write up the application forms. Give me a few minutes, and I'll get one up. :D

What I enjoy? When the current Weyrwoman/Weyrleader goes away for a month---and they're a part of the biggest plot currently in the Weyr! That exact thing recently happened in not one, but two of the Weyrs I roleplay in. We had to scorch the entire plot idea because the people roleplaying the Leaders went on a month-long vacation and didn't give before-hand notice! :banghead:

I really have the most marvellous ideas for this teacher :D Including a break from the norm housewise for Transfiguration :D They seem to have all been in Gryffindor as far as I remember :D Also have a good idea for couple of students, but one of them really would be more suited to Slytherin...

Okay: I can't do that till I ask you, tih sis a five day school week wit hhow many periods for each day? (Like, period 1, period 2, double periods, etc?)

After looking through far too many class schedules to note, I'd have to go with this:

First and Second years:
Seven periods, alternating in days (ex: Day One has four complusary classes. Day Two has three compulsary, and Flying (for First years). Day Three is the same as Day One, Day Four is the same as Day Two.)

Third through Seventh:
Eight periods, alternating in days (four classes on Day One, four classes on Day Two).

Thinking of having Friday through Sunday as the weekend. It's up to you guys if you'd like Friday classes.

I'm just taking a stab in the dark with it though. :roll: If you and Platinum would like to do it differently, feel free to tell me. :D

I changed around Ancient Runes to be opposite Divination. Few other minor changes as well, so the schedule'd fit all of the classes. Hope you didn't mind. :D

Edit: Two House Head positions are still open, but I'm leaving those for male characters. I just realized all of the teachers and students so far are female. :laugh:

-sigh- Just finished planning out the Occlumency lessons. I think our resident CoMC professor's got a good idea of how she wants her classes run as well.

The rest of you who've already planned out classes, exams, etc.:
Any news on how you'll be running your classes? My Occlumency's going like this:

I'm setting mine out to have five sessions a year (not classes, sessions. A different thread per session). Those who are planning on attending the class, I'll have their names up on an OOC thread in the Occlumency board (only taking ten students a year), so I'll know who did and didn't show. Sessions will go as stated below. (Using this post as a reference for myself once classes begin).

Session One: Introduction - Introducing the professor to the students, stressing the point of taking notes.
Notes - Importance of the subject, the uses of a Legilmens

Session Two: Notes - How Shield Charms work
Practice - Verbal and nonverbal use with Shield Charms.

Session Three: Notes - General information on Legilmency, how it works.
Practice - Pairing students in twos, defending and attacking with occlumency and legilmency.

Session Four: Notes - Hints and tips on combating a Legilmens.
Practice - attacking and defending with Tydfil.

Session Five: Exam -
One on one with the professor - See Session Four's practice. Those who prove acceptable in the subject need not take the written exam. (Two students will be chosen from a roll of the dice to see who meets Tydfil's standards.
Written exam - Occlumency Sessions will be cleared (save for Session Five), and students will be required to e-mail exam answers to the professor (moi.).

Exam Results - On the Occlumency board, there will be a list of students who passed the class. Those who did not will not have a chance to make it up, those who did will be written down as wizards and witches skilled in legilmency/occlumency.

Most of them, unfortunately. The professors of course will need to be filled. At the very least, the House Heads need to be filled, as well as the Headmaster/mistress, Deputy Headmaster/mistress, and the School Nurse.

I actually thought that worked out rather well. You have to realize, first years are doing just that: going through their first year at a magical school. They're going to need all the time they can get for homework, studying, and learning what they can about their new school.

Perny, if you don't want to change the schedule, you don't have to. Yeah, a lot of the classes should be running at the same time, but honestly don't see how a class or two on the weekend is going to kill any of us.

Just as long as you understand to leave room for mistakes now and then--even if a person excels in something, they're bound to screw up at some point. :D

I've been planning out my classes, and am currently working on how to type for my characters. :laugh: Not sure what the others are working on. :D

You decide on the extra courses when you send your character info.

Edit now that I've got a little more time:

On the "What's New" page, it mentions that you may only take two optional courses. Students will take everything listed in the "Subjects" page (Found via the "Hogwarts" link on the sidebar) that is categorized under "Compulsary Subjects". Flying does not count as an optional course, though it is only available to First years. The same can be said for Apparition, which is only afailable to those students seventeen years of age or older.

Most of them, unfortunately. The professors of course will need to be filled. At the very least, the House Heads need to be filled, as well as the Headmaster/mistress, Deputy Headmaster/mistress, and the School Nurse.

Since that post, the remaining necessary positions that need filling are:

Deputy Headmistress
Mandatory subjects: Astronomy professor
Optional subjects: Arithmacy, Ancient Runes, Divination, and Apparition professors

That's ah.. a very good question. I don't think it should be restricted to a specific time of day, as it's very unlikely that all members will be available at a certain time of day. It will probably go like any normal forum RPG, where you post when you can. :D So no worries if you'd like to make a professor.

*peeks in* I'm giving this some thought :D I've never been part of an RP site before, so this is a BIG step. I'd check out the site right now to find out for myself, but my computer is very slow right now and will NOT handle another page.

So, is this something that's required every day? Do we actually have to do the work, essays and whatnot? Because, well... it's not like we have textbooks and stuff to actually know the work, and the books don't exactly give much info on the specifics. Basically I'm asking, what do I have to DO? :laugh:

I'm not sure about the other classes, but the way I've planned mine, a few scribbled notes here and there for rp reference, and you should pass. I doubt it'll require posting everyday, since life does go on outside a message board. (This information still shocks and saddens me, personally.) The most I can say is the first few classes will undoubtedly be a time for trial and error. This'll be the first non-Weyr I've tried running, so if things seem a more than a little disorganized, there's a reason. :D Dragon_dreams is right, though--we do our best to help everyone else along.
