Monsorlit and Sara's new face

I hope those are the right names! I was wondering earlier, and I don't remember ever seeing this in the old Everything Else forum, but why do you think Monsorlit (he's the one who did the restoree-ing, right?) he gave Sara someone else's face, someone who lived on the planet - Maxim's girl, I forget her name as we don't really see her. Do you think there was an ulterior motive there? Perhaps he knew the future and what help Sara would be for the entire planet?

I don't think he gave her the other girl's face, just his attempt at what he considered perfection. I think she looked a bit like the other girl but only from a distance.

I spose, but she passed for Fara at the party - and Maxim is the heir so naturally everyone would be up on the gossip, like who his main squeeze is ;) Monsorlit is closely involved with the family so he'd definitely know what Fara looked like, why couldn't he see the similarities if he hadn't intended them to be like that, I know her face was very what's that word, symmetrical? unlike most humans' faces because he'd had to rebuild it from scratch...

I just finished re-reading Restoree and she seemed to only pass for Fara from behind. As soon as Maxim heard her voice and Gorlot saw her face, they knew it wasn't her.

no the skin was definitely lotharian...it mentions a process where the skin over grows healthy skin to provide no grafting scars. personally I think monsorlit went as far as to do some minor alterations such as the nose bob etc...she still had her own eyes.

I think there is some alterations, its perfect except for one eye, I can't quote but I know that towards the end of the book Harlan comments on how a totally symmetric face would not be as beautiful. Sorry, my book's 50 odd miles away!
