Well, I'm reading the first four books of the Dark Tower series, and enjoying them immensely, just as I did 'The Stand,' 'It,' 'The Green Mile,' and the short stories 'The Body' (Stand By Me,) and 'Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption' (The Shawshank Redemption.) Anyone else have any favorite Stephen King books that they like.
Anyone else have any favorite King stories that they want to talk about?

THE STAND was my favorite Stephen King. It was just chilling! CUJO is up there, and PET CEMETARY.
I try not to read them often, or when home alone!

For a long time I refused to read any of his books or watch movies based on his books because I didn't like horror stories. Ended up watching The Stand when it eas on television & like it so I read the novel.
So far I've only read The Stand and the first Dark Tower book. I tried reading the second Dark Tower but had trouble reading it.

I usually don't read Stephen King books because they scare the crap out of me. :scared: But my friend talked me into a few of them. I've read: Bag of Bones, Rose Madder (very odd), and the first 2 or 3 Dark Tower books. I liked the Tower books, but they were hard to read. :tilt:

i'm not realy into horror for horror's sake - after all thats what rollercoasters are for
But i have read a couple of stephen king books!
The Dead Zone - is the novel that kicked off a seventies Movie as well as a recent (and VERY good TV series) its all about jonny ... who can see things .... things that have happened, things that are happening, things that might well happen in the future - unless jonny can stop them ! tis a very good book, and an excellent TV series (i havent gotten around to watching the seventies movie yet - i only just aquired it on DVD but havent found the time to watch it yet)
The Shawshank Redemption (the short Novelisiation that kicked off the movie)
anyone who has seen the film will know this is about andy dufrene, and his journey through a state correctional facility over the course of many years ....
.... the film is good but the novel is even better !!!!!! :D

Christine, Cujo and The Tommyknockers. I remember reading those, but I may also have borrowed some others as a teenager from the library. I think Jack Nicholson did a brilliant job in The Shining. When I read Christine I got such vivid visuals from it that I'm pretty sure I've seen the movie as well.

I'm NOT a big horror fan, but there was somehting about The Stand. This was way before the miniseries came out, I think. It was just such a huge book, and someone told me to try it, so... It is remarkable, I think - just plain old horror does not do a lot for me, but it was a very compelling story. I still remember stuff from it sometimes and get the heebie-jeebies.

There are only two Stephen King books I've liked, and this is one. I love it. The TV series is absolutely great as well, and I want to see the movie--haven't watched it.
The other's On Writing. Very good advice in there as well.
I've also read The Shining (meh. I disliked it to the point where I left it in the pocket of the airplane seat in front of me with hey, I don't like this book--if you find it, it's yours! written inside the cover. See the movie instead.), Cujo (also meh) and Carrie (I actually found it somewhat laughable.).
