I'm a huge fan of the Honor Harrington series.

What do you like best about it? Which is your favourite book of the series?

Have you read any of his other stuff?

While I really enjoy Honor and all her trials, I have to admit that I've got a serious crush on a 7 foot tall Horse Stealer Hradani named Bahzell Bahnakson. There's only 3 books in the series so far, but from the way the newest one ended, there are a lot more in the planning. In Oath of Swords we're introduced to the world of the Hradani and a few assorted dieties, first and foremost Tomanak. In The War God's Own, our hero and friends head for Bahzell's home fighting demons and evil henchmen all the way. In Windrider's Oath we leave the plains for the homeland of the hradani's long time enemy. Good books, well written and what I really like in a book, humour interlaced in the more serious parts.

Honor Harrington is OK; I think it gets bogged down by all nine million viewpoint characters. I like Path of the Fury the best of his works--not great literature, but it's fun. Same goes for most of the short story Honorverse collections. 16-whatever was awful.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Bahzell can come visit me any day.
 I love his sense of humor.

I've been bogged down in the last couple Honor books. Maybe one day I will finish them.

Right now I'm reading War of Honor. I haven't wanted to have so many characters blown out an air lock in ages and I'm only 1/3 of the way through the book.

I've read a couple of Weber's other books.
The Excalibur Alternative - it is an expands upon his short story in Foreign Legions, an anthology of stories set in the same universe as David Drake's Ranks Of Bronze.
1633 written with Eric Flint - it is a sequel to Flint's 1632, which I heartily recommend.

I cannot say enough good things about David Weber. (Apart from the name Rob S. Pierre - I mean really  ). Loved all the Honor Harrington books, and at least liked everything else of his I've read, and I think I've managed to get through all of the sci-fi stuff, at any rate. Well worth the time and money to get hold of. I want to be in the Royal Manticoran Navy! (And you can throw in a knighthood while you're at it!)
I expect that the space battle scenes can probably be a bit much for some people, as the 'physics' he's worked out (wedges, sidewalls, broadsides etc) are very rigorously thought out but do challenge the reader to keep up. I love the way that weapons and tactics develop through the series, though. I have absolutely no idea what he's going to come up with to top the SD(P) class, but it's going to be impressive as hell. Great characters are there in abundance, too. And the High Ridge government just made me think 'I Hate Tories!' with renewed vigour (sorry c_ris).
