If, like Petaybee, the Earth were alive and indeed, sentient, what do you think it'd be saying to us...?

Can't a planet get some respect around here? It was better when there were no people around!

Nothing that would get by the censor here, that's for sure!
Seriously though, I think poor old Gaia would be very vocal if She were able. Perhaps something along the lines of:
"Two millennia and you idiots are still using fossil fuels? Why don't you evolve already!"
"Do you know what it's like when a thousand zits explode on your face at once? Okay then, you know what it feels like when you explode one of those silly nuclear bombs on me!"
"Before you spend millions of dollars worrying about how you're going to Terraform Mars, why not spend a little time and energy on improving your's truly?"
Okay, so maybe I exagerate, but I doubt by much. I'm not one of the ecology fanatics, but I do think we need to stop and listen a bit just in case Mother Earth is trying to talk to us. If not for us, for our future generations...
Take care,
Mikey

I agree with Wooly.
The voices are there, if you listen. In every "freak" storm, volcano, earthquale, tidal wave...
She's saying.......
"Grow up already, for C***** sake, and take care of ME, you ignorant bunch of arrogant little pissants!"

What is Mother Gaia saying, when she treats us to a flood, an earthquake, a landslide, a hurricane, a tsunami? Probably something like:
"Pay attention, you irritating little parasites: this is just a minor twitch of my skin. Push me too far, and I can shrug you into Outer Space, no trouble. So watch it! :irked:

"It feels like something is crawling all over my skin," said Earth.
"I had that problem once," replied Mars. "I got rid of it when I shed most of that gassy stuff that was around me."
Jupitor rolled his huge eye spot. "I just made mine thicker."
"So did I," Venus added. "I also turned up the heat."
"Hmm," Earth muttered. Maybe....

What would she say? Oh thats easy...."Alright! That's it! I've had enough! OFF!! All of you! Get your fat little arses off of my face!! And you! You over there with the Nuke! Put that down this minute!! And you with that oil drilling platform! Go poke that into someone your own size! Get these cruddy little things off of me!! Oh why does no one ever listen to their mother anymore??"
She is speaking....listen to her voice in the wind, in the earthquakes, in the clouds of acid rain, in the volcanoes long dormant now again awakened...in the oceans that are warming at an alarming rate. She's screaming...we're just too deaf to hear! So sad. So sad!

So, we don't think she'd be saying...
'My gosh, that Great Wall goes so well with my land mass tones and thank goodness for the Eiffel Tower! I had no idea what to wear for a night out in Gay Paris!'
Sorry, flippant but this was getting depressingly heavy!

Well Jayson, most of us seem to feel that a sentient Earth would take a very dim view of the wasteful, aggressive, self-destructive parasite mankind has turned out to be. Interesting that, in mythologies, Earth always seems to be personified as female and maternal: how many mothers do you know who are willing to put up with wanton waste, filth, selfishness and fighting? Heavy, perhaps, but you did ask!

I agree. I think the Earth would be more upset than happy with the way we've treated her. That goes especially for the past couple of centuries...

If the Earth was alive I dont think she'd say anything. She'd be too busy crying. Raped and disfigured for her treasures by the creatures that inhabit her, poisoned by fumes and desecrated by tree felling and pollution. Would you not be crying too?

I wonder what will happen if I go into this cave...... ;)
I wish Earth were as capable of taking care of itself as Petaybee proved to be.

If the Earth was alive we would never have had the chance to destroy her the way we do now.
On the other hand who is orcestrating vulcanos and earthquakes and storms ?
A Girl named Gaia perhaps? ;)

if earth were alive i think it would be screaming by now - all those mines etc... it would probably erupt yellowstone as an example of what happens to humans when they hurt the planet.

What would Mother say? Hmmm interesting the conversation might run something like this.
"Child, I know that you are growing and trying to learn all there is to know. I understand that you are still a child and must learn to walk before you can run. But, if you do not start to learn what is right and proper then I will have to turn you over my knee and see if we can increase the learning curve from the other direction.
The Druids at least were on the right track and what do the rest of you do? Kill them. That is just not the right attitude to have. I have shown you a small fraction of my might, straighten out or you will be given a better, stronger show of my might. I need you to understand that the insolence and intolerance for one another will no longer be tolerated. If you can not play nice together then I will make you take a time-out in the corner until you decide to become more tolerant.
I have asked you to take care of the animals that are not able to care for themselves without your help and what happens? Every year more and more species are made extinct. This must stop. How would you like it if I made YOU extinct? Not a pleasant thought is it? I have made everything and I have a reason for everything, if you can't get with the program then maybe I will just get someone else to take care of my little ones and give you a plauge to get you off my back. This will be the last warning you recieve. Now for the love of yourselves STRAIGHTEN OUT.

If the Earth were alive, I am pretty sure that it would not have noticed us yet. Even if it did, it would just be as an irritating rash that will go away within another few million years.

To those of you who believe Elohi does speak to us but we as people are to arragant to listen I applaud you. I too believe she has been speaking and trying to warn us that what we are doing is endangering her as well as us.
But if Elohi could speak in human language? She would probably say something along the lines of.
"I brought you into this universe and I sure as hell can take you out. KNOCK IT OFF!!!!"
