Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Don't want to leave it too late as hotels here get booked up quickly, especially for the summer (& after all we're a month earlier than last time we were here).

Are the schools back by the time we're gathering? Would be better from a hotel finding viewpoint but obviously, not so good for the layabouts, :erm: students amongst us!

We'd mentioned the previous hotel before... Had that been ruled out?

Nowhere's been ruled out yet. The problem with where we were last time, though, is that while we pretty much filled it then, there there was a lot more of us. This time we wouldn't have it as much to ourselves, which could be a problem on Saturday night. Really need to find somewhere a bit smaller, and/or with a separate function room we can use on Saturday.

The schools go back the week before I think, so that shouldn't be a worry, just hope there isn't a race meeting on...

One of the worst things about living in York was trying to get through race traffic (the other bad thing was navigating round tourists gawping in town!)

Hmm, just checked & there is a race meeting on that weekend, & it's only the St Leger...

However, I'm really not sure if changing the date is practical now, since I suspect some peeps have already booked time off work for it (and changing would mean I'd have to take time off), & having another date poll is going to delay things even further. The traffic situation may not be so bad because they had a new system set up for Royal Ascot last year (& also used for Ebor week, so I suspect they'll be doing the same for that weekend). Basically all race traffic has to use a particular route into & out of the city, leaving the other roads free for non-race traffic. Anyway, we'll see what we can come up with this week, & if everywhere's already booked then we'll have to change the date.

My only worry is that there are still peeps who aren't sure if they can come or not, which makes giving the hotel a room allocation list (which I'd like to do by this weekend preferably) very difficult.

I can see the difficulty... Of course, there'll always be rooms in toher venues for those who can't confirm till nearer the time! 't'would be nice to have us all under one roof but I'm also aware of the logistics of organising that! :roll:

Hmm, having corrected my bad maths (19 from 27 is 8, not 6 :roll: ), it looks like the girlie room is the only option, assuming the bunks aren't child-sized, will have to check up on that. At least if you're in the girlie room you won't have the deposit to worry about, since that room's already over-deposited ;)

It seems that the 8th to the 10th of September might be a problem for me! My evilwicked company (the devils own) have decided that the last two weeks of August and the first two of September are off limits for any vacation time as it's the company equivalent of Christmas! Admittedly, my store takes about 30K a week over this period (as oppossed to 15K) but I was sure it would be ok as the vacation ban was always for the whole of August only. *wail*
I'm hoping that I can use my two days off and, with a bit of sweettalkinbuttkissin, get two of the 8 days they owe me! I'm sure the store will cope ('cept my deputy is going on vacation on the Sunday!) :eek:
