Who Would Jesus Vote For?
Who would Jesus vote for?
That’s the question that I pose
Like any famous leader,
I think his record shows.
Just look at Jesus’ friends
Sinners, lepers, beggars and whores
A motley crew, a nasty gang
A family called “the poor”
You go to the polls
With Jesus on your mind
But when you cast your ballot
Do you leave him behind?
You can vote to save your marriage
Sure, stick to your guns
But the only way to keep your rite
Is through loving your loved ones.
Here is to our guns!
But what about the bread?
Will you enjoy your toast
When the lowly ones are dead?
Jesus hates abortion,
But he loves the woman too
And when you vote to slash her rights,
It’s Jesus that you screw
Prince of peace, God’s only son
Like Che Guevara—without a gun.
Jesus died for you and for me
The homeless woman: that makes three
One thing, though, is for certain
He didn’t die for Halliburton
So if Jesus died for all the poor
