This story, which is my own mix of two stories- Pern (an AU) version and Stargate SG1 ( would start season 5 if following the story line).

The following is taken from the Pernia side of the story-


"Well, when do you think the eggs will hatch T'den?" sam asked, only to hear a humming emanate from the hatching ground, "Is that.." she started to say before T'den and Char'l replied quickly "Yes!". "Good thing you're changed sam", T'den replied, sweeping her onto his bronzes back and flying her into the hatching ground.
"There, remember, think and remember you're worthy and you'll impress" the acting Weyrleader said, secretly hoping she'd become weyrwoman.

[Lady of the weyr]

Sam had heard there was a new recruit in the SGC but she didn't know who. She was walking to an emergency briefing, when she meet Daniel along the way. "So Sam, have you heard who the recruit is yet?" he asked her, to which she replied " I haven't got a clue", shrugging her shoulders. As they both entered the briefing room, General Hammond said "Colonel, Daniel, nodding to them both in turn, "take a seat and meet our newest team member, Leuteniet(sp?) Laura de Barona".
Daniel nodded at her and reached out his hand taking his seat, Sam on the other hand just stared at her " Laura, what are YOU doing here for?", she sharply asked her almost accusingly, leaning across the table to her, hands on the table, stunned at her sheer audicity on taking HER seat next to O'neill!
"What do YOU think I'm doing here, working of course!", she replied sweetly, "same as you!". "Ha!" Sam laughed sarcastically, "Last time I checked, YOU tried to kill me!"

Laura shrugged, "So, it was an accident, I just hope we can still be friends" she said, almost too sweetly for Sam's likening. "You, friends, how DARE you even suggest that!" she almost shouted at her.

It was at this point General Hammond intervened "Colonel, Leuteniet (SP?), stand down, BOTH OF YOU NOW!!!!!" he told both of them, before turning to Sam, "Apoligise now Major!" he told her angrily, to which she replied "No sir, I won't apoligise to HER!!!!!", looking at Hammond, then Laura, as she said it.

"Major, I ORDER you to NOW", Hammond told her, glaring at her, "or I shall have to put YOU in the BRIG!!!".

Sam was stunned speechless!!!!! Hammond threatening to put her in the BRIG, *he must be joking* she thought, before saying "But sir, you don't mean that, do you?" she asked, wonderingly. "I will and do!" he told her firmly,
his eyes glaring angrily at her.
"Fine", she told him in defeat and looked at Laura "I'm sorry", loathing for her in her eyes, when she realised she couldn't win, taking her seat, opposite Daniel.

"Good!" Hammond told her smiling, "Now to get on the briefing, your next mission, which you ALL will take part in, putting the emphasis on the all to forstall any protests, which readily came from-unsurprisingly enough-Sam "But Sir!",she began to protest, only to be silenced by Hammonds and O'neills glares and fell silent.

"Now, Laura, I believe you're to take this briefing" Hammond told her, motioning her to rise, while laura prevented Sam from taking her seat " Indeed, thank you General", she told him "and thank you for all for the welcome."
She stopped momentarily glaring at Sam, hatrid in HER eyes, which was directed at Sam. The others caught the look and both Daniel and T'leac suddenly had uneasy feeling that something was going to happen very soon........
