I am now half way through the Bourne trilogy novels by Robert Ludlum

The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum

The Bourne Identity: The first book is the basis of a Movie starring Mat Damon. The movie and the book are similar but not close, in plot ....

The Bourne Supremacy: The second book seems to have absolutly no resemblance to the second movie!

I havent gotten as far as the third yet ...

So far these books are heavy reading ... and take some getting into ... although i'm sure they have a loyal fanbase, i'm not going to read any more ludlum books after i've finished this series... the prose is just to heavy handed and at times seems to ramble and stretch things out for no apparent reason...

I read a few of his books years ago. Bourne Identity was the first. I quit after Matarici Circle (however you spell that) Just not really my thing.

I've actually read all of his books. Yes, he uses (or used since he's no longer with us) a "formula" in all his books (there's a CONSPIRACY!), but I still enjoyed them. But there's only so many Nazi or Soviet bad guy books you can write. :) He actually wrote a couple of comedic thrillers, The Road to Gandolfo and The Road to Omaha that were hilarious. :D

The main problem with Robert Ludlum is that he has been dead for several years. How can he keep writing books? Must find out.:2cent:

I think it's probably the publisher reprinting his books. On the other hand, look how much Tolkien has been published after he left for the Halls of Mandos.

I recommend Road to Gandolpho and Road to Omaha. They were (in ludlums words) a series of books that started out as a serious thought provoking story... until he started laughing like a maniac during the second paragraph he was writing on Gandolpho. As far as I know they are the only comedic books he's written. And incidentally... I can't remember what the pen name was that he wrote under when they first came out. I just have the books that came out after he changed them back to his name.
