Obviously, we all love her books. But what makes Anne herself a compelling human being? Not just her writing, but her personality and speech.
For me:
Sarcasm and wit
Love of animals
Familial appreciation
Writing ability
Cleverness

I only know her through the books, so I really don't have much to say.

Like Brenda said, I only know her from what she wrote.
Except...
I read her Introduction in the Anthology, Girl Who Heard Dragons, "So, You're Anne McCaffrey".
From what she displays there, I'd have to say I love her humor. A potato farmer on her way to Alaska! :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:
I do hope to meet her one day in person. I'm thinking about asking her to blurb my book (Draconia) went it comes time. :)

I've had the opportunity to chat many times online with Anne, and to have met her and spent time with her at D*C. I found her sense of humor to be her finest point. She's one of those people who always has a quick and funny comeback. And though she's polite to a certain point, she doesn't suffer fools gladly. She'd much rather you have an earnest conversation about her work than just sit and make sycophantic gushing comments.
She's my kind of people.

i never managed to meet Anne in chat, nor in perosn as she's been unable to attend the UK gathers so I've only got others views to go on. 'Tis a shame. Though I often question how I'd really feel if I were to meet someone I've always held in 'star' status!? Surely they'd never be quite as you'd imagined and this has the risk of letting you down!
Not that Anne would let me down I'm sure...?

It is such a shame she can't get to the UK gathers  I love her for her books, they are such a good read wen you are stressed.

I've only met her in chat, which to me really doesn't count, so I have no idea what I'd think of her as a person.
